The Minister of Aviation, Hon. Joseph Kofi Adda, has cut sod for the commencement of work on the construction of a headquarters building for Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Northern Apron at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
In his welcome address, the Acting Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Mr Yaw Kwakwa, indicated that the construction of the Northern apron will undoubtedly increase Kotoka International Airport’s capacity to accommodate more airlines, especially during peak periods. He assured that the project will be completed on schedule and within budget.
The Director-General of Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Simon Allotey, on his part, stated that the construction of the new head office complex was timely and would go a long way to enhance effective work coordination and efficiency.
In his keynote address, Minister of Aviation, Hon. Joseph Kofi Adda, commended GACL and GCAA for their pioneering roles in the growth of the aviation sector and encouraged them to stay the path. He said the construction of the eight-storey office complex for GCAA and the 14 aircraft parking stands at KIA will provide additional capacity and make the industry competitive.
